Code of Conduct
At OpenSI, we have a set of guidelines on how we run courses and the expectations of students. Our Student Code of Conduct sets out for our student community those shared expectations. This document will change and grow and improve over time. Please read it carefully and refer to it when you need to. If you have any questions, please contact info@opensi.net.
Purpose
The Student Code of Conduct contains guidelines on how students are expected to behave and steps to identify and resolve any issues.
Scope
It applies to all online course activities.
Definitions
A student is a person who is or was enrolled in one of OpenSI’s online courses.
A staff member is someone who is employed by OpenSI or one of its members to work on one of OpenSI’s online courses.
OpenSI values

Responsibilities
Staff will:
- Adhere to OpenSI’s values and policies.
- Respect and recognise the diverse background of students and staff.
- Provide an environment free from discrimination, harassment and bullying.
- Conduct themself responsibly and professionally.
- Engage students to the best of their ability.
- Clearly communicate what is required to complete a course.
- Provide flexible arrangements to students who cannot attend all scheduled activities.
- Apply reasonable adjustments where necessary to support students.
- Be available via different means to provide student support.
- Be fair and consistent in evaluating assessments.
Students will:
- Adhere to OpenSI’s values and policies.
- Be open to those with different cultures and backgrounds.
- Communicate respectfully with other students and OpenSI staff.
- Attend all scheduled activities when possible or make alternative arrangements.
- Complete assessments on time to the best of their ability.
- Ask for support when it is needed.
- Use OpenSI resources responsibly and for the purpose they are intended to be used.
- Behave with integrity and honesty.
- Be engaged and actively participate in learning.
Students will not:
- Engage in academic misconduct or other fraudulent behaviour.
- Act in a way that is discriminatory, harassing, or bullying.
- Acts in a way that impacts the safety and well-being of others.
Breaches
OpenSI will manage any breaches of the student code of conduct fairly and appropriately.
Reporting
Students are encouraged to report any breaches to OpenSI. OpenSI treats privacy seriously and all reports are treated confidentially and will treat all matters with fairness, respect and with dignity.
