Welcome to OpenSI
OpenSI is a not-for-profit open source foundation focusing on open source training, certification, and research and development, to boost job-ready skills in the IT sector.
Through OpenSI, the University of Canberra and Instaclustr will collaborate on the development and delivery of professional courses designed to advance software engineering skills.
Online Training and Certification
The first online course to be delivered, titled Developer Training and Certification for Apache Kafka®, will help budding software engineers, developers, and system administrators acquire the fundamental skills required to develop and operate one of the world’s most advanced and influential technologies, Apache Kafka.
Course content will include hands-on workshops, webinars, online forums, self-paced assignments, and assessments. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to take an optional exam to become an OpenSI certified developer for Apache Kafka.
Future courses are being developed on other open source technologies including Apache Cassandra®, PostgreSQL®, and Cadence.
The Future of Open Source
Technology jobs will be in high demand over the next decade, and there is a significant skills gap that needs to be filled when it comes to technology and digital literacy skills.
